I've always loved the Atlas, but I didn't realize she could sing this well.

If I had the time and money....

No matter how hard they dare try, the inline six will never die.

I was always quite fond of the noise our stock one made at over 6k rpm.

It's big and heavy, but I love taking on ramps in our Envoy.

Basically.

BMW = 3 letters, I-6.

GMC = 3 letters, I-6.

Therefore, GMC = BMW.

They are pretty snappy for their size though.

Oh yeah, and a surprising amount of low-end grunt for a DOHC engine.

Someday, someday.

And even more surprising to me, was that despite it's lowish ground clearance, it could be taken off road.

I've got an '05 Envoy. The truck itself is alright, but man, I love that engine. I love that GM had the motor first and then built the platform around it. I hate that they were never used in anything else (aside from the Canyon/Colorado in abbreviated form).

I saw one of the development engines at the R.E. Olds museum in Lansing. The placard said it was a development of the Quad 4.

Anyone else out there doing anything with the 4200?

I agree, average SUV, junky interior, but the engine is a gem. Ours is an '04, just turned 100k last week and it runs like a top.

Last job the company truck was an LL8 equipped Trailblazer, when the factory exhaust bit the rust, they but a Flowmaster muffler on it. It wasn't fast but it was great to listen to when merging.
